Gotta go outside, to get out the rain Got to see the sun, to sit in the shade I can't walk a block, no I tumble down the street Like a waterfall, rolling down the leaf Don't watch the clock, and I see no time go by A pace in a place like this is a hundred thousand miles Now what did you want? And what did you require? Was it more than a movie? Was it cheaper than the bar? Your best dress got smaller, every time it dried Your face just got longer, every time you cried And I'm counting scars between the bars in this place It's got it's gives but, it likes to take Now the thunder roll, and your heart would pound It's hard to catch your eye when I ain't quite on the ground Hard at hearing, and down here I can't shout It's hard to keep it up when, you bring me down So I call you up, honey you name the place The tide roll in and out and I'm sitting on the dock of the bay But don't feel bad, if things don't go to plan I got rug burns on my knees, and a wallet full of sand So now I lay me down, so easy I could sleep My seaweed dream, one day again we'd meet And I'd sail the seven seas upon your dirty tail Oh can you hear the wailing of the whale? We're not alone

I stand here, upon a mat I doubt A cause within, I live without The cold wind blows you to the side of the road But you've been there before When times is hard, times is bad And what you want, ain't what you had Oh no no now you got no place to go, nothing to show So it's those shallow lands, where the grass don't grow Stay out the sun, don't trust the snow And when you can't find your way back home anymore Baby you can walk along my shore Everyone you knew, they didn't know you true And they took just what they needed and it left you feeling blue All along, you thought your walls were strong And you told yourself before, you'd stick to moving on But now I'm in the hall, and your voice is oh so far I hope we make it home, before everyone is gone Now my sight is singing "I see no way out!" Let's crack the seal, let's scream and shout Take me to a place where this chilly wind don't blow A place I've never been before Your window's high, so I'll fly low Tell me true girl, I gotta know Cause when I can't find my way back home anymore Baby I'll be walking along your shore And everyone we knew, well no one knows us true And we all take what we need and still we feel so blue

The Coast 04:14
Big noise, more toys New ploy, it's their choice A short drive, I go hide It's not wrong, it's unright Old we grow, and listen less more Sand roll, the wind blow I rinse off, no phone Old shop, bored walk Cheap kite, no socks Oh so close, yet so far from home I'll be at the coast Where the seagulls fly In a lullaby tide I'm so happy we're out at the coast Where the dogs run free And the seaweed's cheap I'm so happy we're out at the coast So drink your coffee, and drink your tea And drink some beer with all my friends and me Cause time is sand, and life's a beach When I get there, you know I'm gonna get me a dose At the coast Ride some bikes down the street And dig the clams that we eat I'm so happy we're out at the coast Where the land meets the sea For eternity I'm so happy we're out at the coast

Days of Gray 03:52
It seems a familiar sight It's pissing rain under streetlights Another day and I can't feel my feet I'm meeting things I don't want to meet Been some time since I went out Got a fine spot in my house Keep the fire inside the stove I'm turning laundry back into clothes And I got my candle whispering in the lonely light The flame it forks the road Just like the ones that you drive by It's got me stuck at the back of the bus I just can't get around That's how it used to be It ain't like that now So with me I'll share this round I got me no friends on this side of town But I got me some cans of, it's OK I know what to do with these days of gray So it comes down to this You're just a raindrop in the mist And like a fish on that line You make it worse the more that you try Save a moment to take your time Spend a dollar to savor your dime Come to terms with what you are Now we're meeting up down at the bar So with you I'll share this round You got a friend in me on this side of town And we got us some cans of, it's OK We know what to do with these days of gray Go out and play, days of gray Drink them away

Oh Well 03:57
Oh Mary, can you hear me? I'm shouting the tops off my lungs I'm beat up and bloody, tired and dirty No will to go out and have fun There's a lady, she don't greet me No she wants to know what I want There ain't no simple answer To what I've been after How can I want with what I have got? I resign, every time I drink, take my leave Chocolate moon in the sky, this 57th Street light I've never seen it turn green And it's Valentines Day If you want some, you gotta pay If you don't like me this morning Baby, just wait a day There's a road, that I know Take us home, if you want to go So Mary, can you feed me? I'm hungover, hungry as hell And my house is so far, left my keys at the bar And god knows what else These days, don't entertain The sunset, the night, or the birth Of a passing sigh, look it straight in the eye See a world too big for this Earth You say lately, you've been lonely And you ain't getting your share Well you're probably like me, down on your knees What the hell am I doing here? Moving slow, gotta go I gotta leave or I never will Starting again is a familiar friend When you tear down all that you build Oh well

Seein' Blues 03:03
I see the mountains I see the sea I see my honey, she's seein' me I see the bells Hear them ring Lord I want to hear, everything See the shadows Watch them grow Earth's a-tremble from head to toe Life's a circus What does it all mean? I look behind everything that you see I see the city Through the trees Air's a-fire from the sky to the street I see the moonlight On the wind I see the watchmen, I see the sin Deck of cards Missing all the kings Don't take much to lose everything Life's a gamble But what did you think? Don't see much in your diamond ring Verily, verily, I see into you And if it die, it bringeth us fruit Come the seed, come the rain Come the harvest, and then come the grain So bring your lantern Bring your light Bring your love, and bring your sight To all that is And all that ever be To all that's hidden And all that we see

Oh No! 04:33
I'm going down to the gardens I heard my baby's staying there I got nothing to offer her My baby she don't care I'll sneak down a row Throw some flowers in her hair Don't take me to no betting room Lord I'll throw it all away And you know what I don't lose I drink to ease my pain Cause I hate all this money Til the day that I get paid Oh no! There it goes I'm going down to the station I heard my baby's leaving town Everyone goes their own way I can't let that get me down If I don't see her tomorrow I'll see her in a week or a month or a year from now Now it's my dying day And I've been put to use You tell me I don't want to I say you got no proof You say that I don't want to I tell you I just refuse Oh no! There I go

The Fog 05:29
Below you, I would hold you Like I know you I've seen through, what you've come to Cause I know you There ain't no truth, to your fortune Yeah I know you Coming down soon, sky ain't so blue Now you know you Now it's gone, and you coast You think that more will come, but it don't You start to see the cost, it's a lot You've been lost, in the fog You ride the bus, but it takes so long Losing face, when it's gone, it's gone Paid to be the boss, but you lost All your dreams, in the fog The law, it don't tend, to our crop The life, you spent, was bought And silent was the show I wish I would have known How much it hurts, oh babe it burns Now you're not sure, but you could learn So I forbid, you give an inch No take it all, and watch it fall Down Now the shade hang in, on the wind Another day is spent, as you sit and spin Oh could it ever be the same again? Not when you're lost, in the fog The law, it don't tend, to our crop The life, you spent, was bought And silent was the show I wish I would have known

Bread and butter, beans and rice Break it off momma, gonna get me a slice I want your leg of lamb, way up past the knee That lemon tart you bake is sweeter than a summer breeze Get a pinch of this, and don't hang me out to dry Gonna toss your salad babe and serve it on the side Eggs over-hard, ain't no flap-jack davey dan Rule number one, always grease the pan Oh so fresh, direct from the farm You got me pantin', howlin' for your charm One leg in the east, and one leg in the west I'm trying to marinate and this ain't no chicken breast Bread and butter, rice and greens Show me something momma, I ain't seen in my dreams It's in the kitchen, where we have our fun Sometimes you gotta break some eggs To make some love

Noah 05:22
I reap and never sow, like everyone I know And it's got to be the wrong way The days have come and gone, the Earth is moving on Did we spend them in the right way? All along the road, it's carved out in the stone And you read it on the back page We won another loss, the price ain't worth the cost But how much more can we pay? Oh, my lord, hang low And hold, the child, you bore Before her hands run cold And the ocean hold our hope The only way back home Is through a sea of bones Down, down through, the storm Upon this pilgrim road You rise and think you soar, you've all been there before But I don't see the marks from your feet You think you got it hard? You got me oh so tired But how can anyone anywhere sleep? With the utmost disrespect, you set out to protect A way to hide the failure Go tell the holy son, you've said all that's been done Oh how can we repay you? Oh, my lord, hang low And hold, the child, you bore Before his hands run cold And the ocean hold our hope Oh, my lord, hang low And hold, the child, you bore Before our hands run cold And the ocean hold our hope Hope
